Hibs and Gaelic met for the first match of a double header week in the league, and they came out of the encounter with a share of the spoils. The opening 20 minutes was low on quality, but Hibs upped their level as proceedings neared the break, creating multiple chances both from open play and from set pieces. A point blank header from Luqman was somehow saved, and Sam had a few openings but couldn't quite take advantage. Hibs were playing some lovely stuff and that continued into the second half, after a few half time substitutions. Soon after the scoring was opened, when Sam picked his head up and spotted Will's run on the far side of the pitch. The ball across was good, and Will took one touch before smashing a volley into the bottom corner. A well-deserved lead, which Hibs should arguably have doubled. Sam had another good chance, Luqman tested the keeper a few times, and Will had the opportunity to score a second after a peach of a cross from Dan resulted in an off-target header. Hibs were made to pay for their profligacy when Gaelic broke on the counter and their winger scored a clinical finish which flashed across Bill's goal and into the far corner. Hibs tried to rally to find a winner, but time was against them and both sides had to settle for a point. Cheers Gaelic and best of luck!
A tough midweek battle with Hibs ended with a deserved point for both teams! Stalemate at half time with chances for both teams. Hibs took the lead early in the 2nd half with a nice finish from Will. Derek in goal for us made a couple of his trademark saves to keep us in it. We kept pushing and we got an equalizer from Niall, great finish. Both teams had opportunities to win it, Billy making a great save from a Paddy header. Cheers Hibs and officials for the game!
